Your Pride

Be unapologetic in the love you give.

Even if it matches the burning intensity of a thousand suns,

and it peels off your hard shells, shedding years worth of tough skin from the inside out,

leaving you naked, vulnerable

…ashamed…

For you will heal and regenerate.

Even if it carries you, and you soar like paper planes in the night sky, and rocks you like a cradle on nine clouds,

and you crash from a thousand feet high,

You will pick yourself back up.

Even when it is your medicine and your poison, stirring up internal conflicts between your heart and soul,

force feeding you anger in tiny doses of pain. You will grow weak and surrender,

But still live to fight another day.

Be unapologetic with the love you give, even if it pours in, then out of you, like a gushing fountain,

and you spill over like a flooded river bank,

one day, you will empty and fill up again.

Even if it takes you on a lonely journey into the shadows, and is your wanderlust into the unknown

or tosses you ocean deep,

For even the lost get found.

Even if it breaks you like Fine China in cloddish hands,

like egg shells in clenched fists,

For as long as the pieces can be found, like a puzzle, you will be put together again.

Be unapologetic of the love you give, even if it leaves you half empty with a bitter taste in your mouth,

and your rough edges raw,

Your muscles- sore, and your soul- blue,

And all you can think of is the love lost, but not wasted.

For indeed, you loved.

Your kindness? pure, untainted by greasy hands

Your love? your pride. Yours to give, to deem worthy to take.

Be unapologetic of the love you give, but when it threatens to hold your body captive,

and your soul is the offering sacrifice to be burned at the stake,

Remember, it is yours to take.

Never apologize for the love you take away, for the love you want in return should never be at the price of your soul.

For the love you give, is yours to freely take.

Even if love shows you a thousand hells and you fly too close to the sun. Fear not, for like a Phoenix, you will rise from the ashes.

Light never shies away from darkness. It basks in its glow for all to see and adore. It lights the way home for the lost. It is the flicker of hope in the unknown.

So should your love be, for you are the sun and it is your light. Even when darkness strikes and your body goes to rest, your afterglow will be enough proof that you loved and you conquered.

Your love? Your pride.

Your love? Your light.

Your kindness? Your legacy.
